Kayaking in Dubrovnik

Kayak Courses

kayak courses dubrovnik croatia Sea kayaking has exploded in popularity over the last few years — and with good reason. Kayaking gives you complete freedom. It allows you to go places and see things on the sea that even the most expensive motor boats can’t access … and without having to worry about running out of gas or refueling. This doesn’t even speak to the fact that kayaking is a great workout. For us, of course, all of this is great news. But, there is an important aspect of this popularity that we take very seriously: when you share the open sea with motor boats, ferries, and sailboats you need to be aware and understand that this is a complex discipline that can also be challenging. For many a kayak course is the perfect way to begin a lifelong, sea-kayak love affair.

When visitors sign up for one of our courses they can rest assure that they will be learning from passionate, certified guides who have spent years perfecting their craft. With this, they’ll also know that they have started their kayaking journey in the right way and will be entering a world open to everyone of any age and level of physical fitness. Kayaks can be used for quick trips or long distances. They can used in perfect weather and in rough seas. And though no one requires a license to operate a kayak, to fully enjoy all the different aspects of this growing sport, one should be aware of some the different skills and safety techniques that can make the difference between a good trip and one you’d rather forget.

Our guests come from all over the world and one main reason: the Adriatic Sea is a perfect place for adventure. The water is warm. The tide is nonexistent. And the seafood makes you seriously think about not going home. These conditions also make it a great to place to perfect techniques or start your life as a committed paddler. Come share our passion and take one course or a whole series … you’ll be glad you did and you’ll also be taking your vacation home — for a lifetime.

School-at-Sea Courses

Initial courses

All of our half- or full-day trips serve as an initial course in which you will have a chance to learn basic sea-kayak techniques. Special attention is paid to safety and proper behavior at sea. Our tours enable our guests to practice in a safe and fun way in the presence of a guide who is responsible for the safety of the whole group and makes all of the safety decisions.

Kayak Course: 3 days for 2 hours (a group of two to six participants)

This kayak course is designed for paddlers with at least some experience (if one doesn’t have basic experience prerequisite they can gain it by joining any of our half or full day trips) or basic knowledge of handling a sit-in sea kayak. Students have an opportunity to further improve their techniques and learn new ways of controlling and managing the kayak. The idea for this course is to get our students ready for longer trips which they can conduct on their own in relatively quiet or little choppy/windy conditions. That’s why we’ll teach you how to prepare for longer trips by checking weather forecast and understanding how the winds in Croatia behave. You will have to make all of your own safety decisions and we’ll teach you how to do a capsize recovery if things don’t go your way.

Eskimo-Roll Course: 3 days for 2 hours (a group of two to four participants)

To participate in this course, kayakers must have taken the Kayak Course above or have a valid BCU 3-star certification (or equivalent) for sit-in sea kayaks. This tour is designed with one goal in mind: to teach you how to roll a kayak. Groups are small to ensure the maximum safety of every student as well as giving the instructor the ability to focus equally on all participants.

Eskimo rolls are not easy to execute and we can’t guarantee you will learn how to do it in 3 days, but if you’re committed and hardworking you will have all the tools to reach your potential.
